Quick-Thinking Bystanders Avert Carnival Ride Disaster
A malfunctioning carnivalride in Traverse City, Michigan could have been a disaster for riders if it wasn’t for the quick thinking bystanders who jumped to the rescue.
Video taken showed the Magic Carpet Ride spinning in circles, as it's meant to, while also appearing to rock dangerously back and forth with riders strapped to their seats.
One brave bystander first jumped onto the ride to stabilize it and then others joined in.
It seemed to work as the weight of the bystanders seemed to hold the ride inits proper place. After several minutes, the ride finally came to as top as the gathering crowd cheered. No injuries were reported.
An official with the festival released a statement Friday saying theride was disassembled and sent to its manufacturer to be inspected.
