Los Angeles County officials have approvedthe first ever 'permanent unicorn license' to a young girl who asked if shecould have permission to house the mythical animal.
A post shared on the County of Los Angeles Department of AnimalCare and Control's Facebook page shows a letter from young Madelinewho asked local leaders for the license just in case she stumbles upon one.
She wrote, 'Dear LA County, I would like yourapproval if I can have a unicorn in my backyard if I can find one. Please sendme a letter in response.'
Officialsreceived "so much joy" from the letter that they decided to respond.
They wrote,"We commend Madeline's sense of responsible pet ownership to seekpermission in advance to keep a unicorn in Los Angeles County. As a result, weissued her a pre-approved unicorn license."
Officials also gave Madeline a stuffed unicorn to wear thelicense for the time being, as real unicorns "are indeed very rare tofind."
The conditions listed in the department's response to Madelinefor the license included requiring that "the unicorn is given regularaccess to sunlight, moonbeams and rainbows."
