Ford Recalling 350,000 Trucks For Transmission Problem

Ford is recalling about 350,000 trucks and SUVs in North America because they might be in a different gear than the one shown on the shift indicator. The automaker says that on some vehicles, a clip that locks the gear shift cable to the transmission might come loose.  This could lead to a driver putting the vehicle into park and removing the key but the transmission may be in another gear, which could allow the vehicle to move.  Ford says it knows of one crash and one injury due to the problem.

The vehicles in the recall include:

  • 2018 Ford F-150 vehicles built at the Dearborn Assembly Plant from January 5, 2017, to February 16, 2018
  • 2018 Ford F-150 vehicles built at the Kansas City Assembly Plant from January 25, 2017, to February 16, 2018
  • 2018 Ford Expedition vehicles built at the Kentucky Truck Plant from April 3, 2017, to January 30, 2018
  • 2018 Ford F-650 and F-750 vehicles built at the Ohio Assembly Plant from April 25, 2017, to March 9, 2018
