Scammers Clone Phone Number In YELP Scheme

Scammers are now using Yelp to pull off an elaborate scheme.  

One woman in Sacramento looked up a heating and air company on Yelp and tried to contact them using the “call” option on the app.

But the call was somehow intercepted by tricksters, who pretended to be the business and showed up at her front door.

Luckily the two men left without taking anything, but cops say they’ve seen the scam before. Yelp says the company’s phone number was likely targeted and cloned as part of a potential scam and the issue wasn’t on their end.
