Amazon is putting fake packages in delivery trucks to find out whatdrivers are stealing items.
The “dummy” packages are placed in vehicles at random and comewith fake labels, but are usually empty.
Drivers must scan the labels of every package while they are out delivering. If they scan a dummy package, an error message will show up.The driver caneither call their supervisor or keep the package until the end of their shiftand return it to a warehouse. If the package isn’t returned, then thedriver has likely stolen it.
Amazon said theft has been a giantproblem for them, but didn’t say how many packages are stolen each year.
