Skippy is recalling tens of thousands of jars of peanut butterin 18 states over concerns that they may be contaminated with fragments ofstainless steel from a piece of manufacturing equipment.
The recallaffects 9,353 cases – or 161,692 pounds – of Skippy’s Reduced Fat Creamy PeanutButter Spread, Reduced Fat Chunky Peanut Butter Spread and Creamy Peanut ButterBlended With Plant Protein.
That’s roughly60,000 jars of peanut butter.
No injurieshave been reported to date. No other varieties of peanut butter were affected.
Skippy hasrecalled products with UPC codes of 37600-10520, 37600-10667, 37600-10499, or37600-88095 and “best if used by” dates in May 2023 on the top of the lid. Afull list of products and states that have been affected can be found on thecompany’s website.
